"Daviewants2" is easily one of the most disturbing chat-logs ever posted on Perverted-Justice.com. Long-time readers remember it being posted and then removed. The reason was speculated on but should have been obvious... police interest in the case asked us to take it down while they went after the man later known as Michael Coffey.

This is our 21st conviction and second in New York state. While we're pleased at the work done by police in conjunction with ourselves and the police investigation afterwards, it is somewhat disappointing to see a light plea agreement given. Still, that's the nature of the court system and at least Coffey won't be around school-children in the future.

    Notes from Jay Alternative:
We originally posted Michael Coffey back in August of 2004. This is when my contact with Detective Roberts of the Suffolk County, NY, police began. Upon reading it, she requested we take it down so that they could launch an investigation into this sick individual.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Coffey was role playing and fantasizing during his chat. However, such was being done with what he believed to be a minor. Coffey retained a good lawyer who pled his case down to Coffey pleading guilty to ENDANGERING WELFARE OF CHILD, A Misdemeanor, 1 count. Sentencing is scheduled for July 29, 2005.

Not completely thrilled with the result of his plea bargain. However, this one sends a strong message. For those who engage in sexual conversation with a minor, claim they did nothing wrong and the mere chat log will never hold up in a court of law; here you have it, it did and resulted in a conviction.

Since Coffey's arrest he has been on paid leave from his position in the Education Field.

Thanks to Jay Alternative and Suffolk County detectives for their work on this case. Stellar work all around.
